(In) حرف
‎1. يستعمل مع الأشهر، السنوات،
‎الفصول، القرون، والفترات الزمنية، آما في الأمثلة التالية :
1- In Jordan most people don’t work on Fridays
‎في الأردن معظم الناس لا يعملون أيام الجمع .
2- The sun rises in the morning. .تشرق الشمس في الصباح
3- My father was born in 1977. .1977 ُولد أبي عام
‎2. يستعمل مع الدول و المدن الكبيرة ، آقولنا :
in America in Jordan in Iraq in Damascus in Amman
1- I have lived in Syria for three years. .
‎لقد عشت في سوريا لمدة ثلاث سنوات
2- We watched several beautiful buildings when we were in London.
‎شاهدنا عدة بنايات جميلة عندما آنا في لندن.
 3- There are more than fifteen universities in Jordan.
‎يوجد أآثر من خمسة عشر جامعة في الأردن.
‎3. يستعمل مع الزمن المستقبل لنعبر عن فترة زمنية معينة بمعنى ) خلال ( ، آقولنا :
in March / in October / in 1982 / in winter / in summer
in the 19th century / in the twentieth century / in the evening(s) in the 1990s / in the morning(s) / in the middle ages
in the afternoon(s) / in the past / in (the) future / in time.
1- My brother will be here in a year.سيكون أخي هنا خلال سنة
2- I will be ready in two hours.سأآون مستعدا خلال ساعتين.
3-They will get married in seven months.سيتزوجون خلال سبعة شهور.

 (At) حرف
‎1. يستعمل للدلالة على الوقت، آقولنا :
1- Adnan gets up at 7:00 o’clock.يستيقظ عدنان الساعة السابعة تماما.
2- I have my breakfast at eight o'clock. . أتناول فطوري في تمام الساعة الثامنة.
3- We arrived home at 6:30.وصلنا البيت الساعة السادسة والنصف.
at dawn at noon at night at dusk
1- We visit each other at night. نزور بعضنا في الليل
2- Cocks crow at down.تصيح الديوك عند الفجر.
3- The sun is very hot at noon.الشمس حارة جدا عند الظهر.

(On) حرف
‎2. يستعمل مع أجزاء معينة من النهار ، آقولنا :
‎1. يستعمل مع أيام الأسبوع والتواريخ، آقولنا :
1- I will be at home on Friday. .سأآون في البيت يوم الجمعة
2- The first man walked on the moon on 21 July 1969
‎أول إنسان مشى على القمر في الحادي عشر من تموز عام 1969.. 3
- We have been invited to a party on 16 January
.. 4- My birthday is on the tenth of October.عيد ميلادي في التاسع من تشرين الأول.

‎يستعمل بمعنى) على (، آقولنا :
1- Put the flowers on the table. ضع الأزهار على الطاولة
2- We sat on the floor.نجلس على ارض الغرفة.
3- There is a mark on your shirt.هناك علامة على قميصك

 (In front of) حرف
‎تأتي بمعنى ) أمام (، آقولنا
1- Don’t sit in front of the television. لا تجلس أمام التلفاز
2- The book was open in front of him. آان الكتاب مفتوحا أمامه
3-Park your car infront of the house.ّفسيارتك أمام البيت.

(Next to) حرف
‎- تأتي بمعنى ) بجانب، بعد(، مثل :
1- Sami always sits next to me.يجلس سامي دائما بجانبي .
 2- Next to English I think my favorite subject is history
‎موضوعي المف ّضل بعد الإنجليزية هو التاريخ

(By) حرف
‎1- يستعمل مع المبني للمجهول بمعنى ) من ِقبل (، آقولنا :
1- The football match was watched by thousands of people.
‎اولوف من الناس شاهدوا مباراة آرة القدم. 2- The new hospital was opened by my father.
‎افتتح أبي المستشفى الجديد.
3- All the body functions are controlled by the mind. .
‎يتحكم العقل بجميع وظائف الجسم
1- Come and sit by me.
2- They stood by the table 3- The bell is by the door.
‎2- يستعمل بمعنى ) قرب، بجانب (، آقولنا :
‎تعال واجلس بقربي. جلسوا بجانب الطاولة. الجرس بجانب الباب.
‎3- تستعمل مع الوقت وتعني ) بحلول بداية ذلك الوقت(، آقولنا :
1- By October we shall have finished painting the house.
‎بحلول تشرين الأول سوف نكون قد انهينا دهان البيت.
2- He will have been in Amman by the beginning of next summer.
‎سوف يكون في عمان بحلول بداية الصيف القادم.

‎1. تستعمل للدلالة على الواسطة التي تم بها حدوث الفعل ، آقولنا :
1- I opened the door with the key. .
‎فتحت الباب بالمفتاح 2- Please write with pen. .
‎اآتب بقلم الحبر من فضلك 3- These photographs were taken with a good camera.
‎تم أخذ هذه الصور بواسطة آاميرا جيدة.
‎2. تستعمل بمعنى ) مع (، آقولنا :
1- I will go with you.
2- We left the keys with the neighbors.
3- I live with my parents.
‎سوف اذهب معك. ترآنا المفاتيح مع الجيران. أعيش مع والد ّي.
1- I saw a girl with black hair.
2- The child with blue eyes is my brother.
3- He has a house with a garden
‎رأيت بنتا ذات شعر الأسود. الطفل ذو العيون الزرقاء هو أخي.
‎يمتلك بيتا له حديقة.

‎3. تستعمل بمعنى ) ذو، له (، آقولنا:
1- He studies from six till eight o’clock. يدرس من السادسة وحتى الثامنة.
2- Where did he come from?من أين جاء؟
3- I traveled from London to New Yorkسافرت من لندن إلى نيويورك

‎- يستعمل بمعنى ) من (، آقولنا:
‎1. تستعمل بمعنى ) إلى، لِ (، آقولنا :
1- My father goes to work by bus .أبي يذهب إلى العمل بالباص
- I gave the book to Ahmed. .أعطيت الكتاب لاحمد
‎2. تستعمل للدلالة على الزمان والمكان ، مثل :
1- I traveled from Amman to Syria. سافرت من عمان إلى سوريا -
Samia usually works from 7 o’clock to 10 o’clock
‎تعمل سامية عادة من الساعة السابعة إلى العاشرة..
‎3. تستعمل للإخبار عن الوقت بمعنى ) إلا (، آقولنا :
1- It is ten to four. .الساعة الرابعة إلا عشر دقائق
2 - It's fifteen to ten. .الساعة العاشرة إلا خمس عشر دقيقة
‎4. تستعمل بمعنى ) لِ ، من أجل (، آقولنا :
1- He went to Amman to meet his friend. .ذهب إلى عمان ليقابل صديقة 2-
I want some money to buy this book.. .اريد بعض النقود لاشتري هذا الكتاب

‎1. تستعمل بمعنى ) ل ، لأجل (، آقولنا :
1- There is a letter for you. .يوجد رسالة لك
2- Is that flat for sale? هل تلك الشقة من اجل البيع؟
‎2. تستعمل لتحديد المدة الزمنية بمعنى ) لمدة (، آقولنا :
1- I have lived in Amman for three years. .لقد عشت في عمان لمدة ثلاث سنوات
2- I haven’t seen him for three months. .لم أره لمدة ثلاثة شهور
‎3. تستعمل بمعنى ) بسعر (، مثل :
1- I bought this car for 3000 JD. .اشتريت هذه السيارة بسعر ثلاث آلاف دينار

(About) حرف
‎1. يستعمل بمعنى ) حول(، آقولنا:
1- Ayman runs about the garden every day. .يرآض ايمن حول الحديقة آل يوم
‎2. تستعمل بمعنى ) عن، بشأن (، مثل:
1- They are talking about you. .يتحدثون عنك
‎3. تستعمل بمعنى ) تقريبا، حوالي (، آقولنا :
1- I saw Khalid about two hours ago.
1- The results of the exam were good.
2- The roof of the cave had collapsed.رأيت خالد قبل ساعتين تقريبا.

(Of) حرف
‎1. يستعمل آأداة إضافة، آقولنا :
‎ . تستعمل بمعنى ) ذو، من (، آقولنا :
1- She is dressing a coat of many colors. .تلبس معطف ذو عدة ألوان
2- This table is made of wood ..هذه الطاولة مصنوعة من الخشب
‎3. تستعمل للتعبير عن الجزء من الكل، آقولنا :
1- Half of the cake was eaten before lunch. .ُأآلت نصف الكعكة قبل الغداء
2- Three of the houses were stolen last night.

(Between) حرف
‎- وتعني بين شخصين أو شيئين، آقولنا :
1- Ahmed sat between Ali and Sameer. جلس احمد بين علي وسمير
2- The office is located between the school and the mosque.
‎يقع المكتب بين المدرسة والمسجد.

(Among) حرف
‎- وتعني بين أآثر من شخصين أو شيئين ، مثل :
1- I saw Mohammed sitting among the crowd. رأيت محمد جالسا بين الحشد
2- He divided his money among his children. قّسم نقوده بين أطفاله .
1- Mona likes to sit beside her father. 2- He used to keep his bag beside him.

(Beside) حرف
‎وتعني ) بجانب، قرب( مثل :
‎تحب منى أن تجلس بجانب والدها. تعود أن ُيبقي حقيبته بجانبه.

‎- وتعني ) تحت، أسفل، دون، أدناه (، آقولنا :
1- Don’t write below this line. لا تكتب تحت السطر
2- Children below ten years old. .الأطفال دون سن العاشرة 3-

(Behind) حرف
‎وتعني ) خلف (، مثل :
1- There is a small garden behind the house. .يوجد حديقة صغيرة خلف البيت 2- Look behind you, Ahmed. .انظر خلفك يا احمد

(Under) حرف
‎- وتعني ) تحت، دون (، مثل :
1- The cat is asleep under the table. .القطه نائمة تحت الطاولة
2- Children under sixteen years of age. الأطفال دون سن السادسة عشرة

‎- تستخدم للزمان بمعنى ) خلال، أثناء، طوال (، آقولنا :
1- The weather gets cold during winter. يصبح الطقس باردا خلال الشتاء
2- We go swimming during the summer holidays.
‎نذهب للسباحة أثناء العطل الصيفية.
3- I visit my friends during my holiday. .ازور أصدقائي أثناء عطلتي
4- This man suffered from loneliness during his childhood.
‎عانى هذا الرجل من الوحدة أثناء طفولته.

‎- وتعني ) فوق، أعلاه (، آقولنا :
1- Don’t write above the line. .لا تكتب فوق السطر
2- The student’s name is mentioned above.. اسم الطالب مذآور فوق

(Against) حرف
‎- وتعني ) ضد، بعكس (، آقولنا :
1- Our team has qualified to play against the winning team.
‎لقد تأهل فريقنا الوطني ليلعب ضد الفريق الفائز.
2- The man swam against the current. .سبح الرجل بعكس التيار

(Along) حرف
‎- وتعني ) على طول، بمحاذاة(، مثل :
I walked along the road. سرت على طول الطريق The ship was sailing along the beach..آانت السفينة تبحر بمحاذاة الشاطئ

‎- تأتي بمعنى ) بعد، خلف، وراء (، مثل :
After doing my work, I went home..بعد انتهاء عملي ذهبت إلى البيت

The cat is running after the mouse. .ترآض القطة وراء الفأر

(Before) حرف
‎- تأتي بمعنى ) قبل، أمام (، آقولنا :
You can call me any time before 10 o’clock.
‎يمكنك أن تتصل بي في أي وقت قبل العاشرة.
Ahmed came before Ali. .جاء احمد قبل علي
The accused stood before the judge. .وقف المتهم أمام القاضي

(Into) حرف
‎تأتي بمعنى )الى، الى داخل، نحو( وتستعمل عند الانتقال من مكان الى اخر:
1- Ali was in the room then he went into the living room.
‎علي َآا َن في الغرف ِة ث ّم َدخ َل غرف َة الجلوس.
2- My mother went into the kitchen..ذهبت أمي إلى المطبخ
3- The boy is running into the tree.يرآض الولد نحو الشجرة

(Near) حرف
‎- تأتي بمعنى ) قرب(، آقولنا :
1- The man parked his car near the house..أوقف الرجل سيارته قرب البيت
2- I don’t like to sit near the window. .لا احب أن اجلس قرب الشباك

 (Within) حرف
‎- تأتي بمعنى )خلال، ضمن، في داخل (، مثل :
1- The manager will come within 10 minutes
‎سوف يأتي المدير خلال عشرة دقائق..
2- Live within your income.عش ضمن دخلك
3- The men are within the house.الرجال داخل البيت
4- The anger was still there deep within her.الغضب لا يزال عميق في داخلها.

‎- تأتي بمعنى ) دون، من غير، بلا (، آقولنا :
1- My mother drinks his coffee without milk .أمي تشرب القهوة بدون حليب
2- He left without saying goodbye. غادر من غير أن يقول وداعا
3- Man can’t live without water.. لا يستطيع الإنسان أن يعيش بلا ماء.

‎- تأتي بمعنى ) أعلى ، فوق (، آقولنا :
1- The monkey climbed up the tree. تسلق القرد فوق الشجرة
2- Our friend was waiting up the hill.آان صديقنا ينتظر أعلى التلة

(Down) حرف
‎- تأتي بمعنى ) أسفل ، على طول (، آقولنا :
1- He went down the hill .ذهب اسفل التلة
2- Go down this road..اذهب على طول هذا الشارع

(Over) حرف
‎- تأتي بمعنى ) فوق، على، أآثر من، فما فوق، حول، من أعلى (، مثل:
1- The cat climbed over the wall.تسلقت القطة فوق الشجرة.
2- There is a label over the bottle.يوجد لصيقة على الزجاجة.
3- I lived in England for over ten years.عشت في لندن لاآثر من 10 سنوات
4- This is suitable for children aged 10 and over.
‎. هذا مناسب للاطفال بعمر عشرة سنوات فما فوق.

 (Since) حرف
‎  - تستعمل بمعنى) منذ ( عند الإشارة إلى وقوع الفعل في نقطة أو فترة
‎محددة في الماضي حتى الآن، مثل :
1- He has been abroad since January. .لقد آان في الخارج منذ شهر آانون الثاني
2- They have lived in London since 1992.

(Through) حرف
‎- تأتي بمعنى ) خلال، عبر، بواسطة (، مثل :
1- We drove through the center of London.
2- You can look through this telescope. .تستطيع ان تنظر عبر التلسكوب
3- He got the money through the bank ..حصل على النقود بواسطة البنك

(Until/ till) حرف
‎- تأتي بمعنى ) حتى، إلى(، مثل:
1- My friend waited for me until/till I finished..انتظرني صديقي حتى انتهيت
2- We won’t leave home until/till he comes. .لن نغادر البيت حتى يأتي
3- The bank is open until/till 3 o’clock.يبقى البنك مفتوحا إلى/حتى الساعة الثالثة

1- يقع حرف الجر قبل الاسم أو الضمير، مثل:
1- You have to stay at home. يجب أن تبقى في البيت
2- This library is rich in books. .هذه المكتبة غنية بالكتب
3- Ali will leave for Paris next week..سيغادر علي إلى باريس الأسبوع القادم


4- I am ashamed of myself.أنا خجلان من نفسي
5- You can go with me.تستطيع أن تذهب معي.
6- My father is proud of my success.أبي فخور بنجاحي .

2- يقع حرف الجر بعد الفعل مباشرة، مثل:
1- My brother is looking for a flat these days...أخي يبحث عن شقه هذه الأيام
2- Our trip will set off at 4 o'clock this morning. .
‎سوف تبدأ رحلتنا الساعة الرابعة هذا الصباح.
3- Look at the plane, Ahmed. .انظر إلى الطائرة يا احمد
4- I deal with people honestly. أتعامل مع الناس بصدق

 3- يقع حرف الجر قبل أداة الاستفهام، مثل:
1- With whom did you go yesterday?مع من ذهبت يوم أمس؟
2- In which country was he born?في أية مدينة ولد؟
3- From whom did you borrow the book? ِمن م ْن استعرت الكتاب؟
4- From where did you come?ِمن أين جئت؟
5- To whom did she give the letter?لمن أعطت الرسالة؟
6- With what did your mother cut meat? بماذا تقطع أمك اللحمة؟
7- In which drawer do you put the pens?في أي جرار تضع الأقلام؟


 ويصح أن نضع حرف الجر في نهاية السؤال آقولنا:
1- Where did you come from?
2- Whom did you give the letter to?
3- What did your mother cut it with?
4- Which drawer do you put the pens in?

4- يقع حرف الجر قبل ضمائر الوصل مثل (whom, which, where, )   :
1- This is the university from which I graduated.
2- Jordan is the country from where I come every day.
3 - This is the person with whom I came.
4- Did you see the purse in which I put the money?.

ويمكن أن نضع حرف الجر في الجمل السابقة في آخر الجملة، مثل:
1- This is the university which I graduated from.
2- Jordan is the country where I come every day from.
3- This is the person whom I came with.
4- Did you see the purse which I put the money in?.
‎5- يقع حرف الجر في نهاية الجملة إذا آانت الجملة في صيغة المبني للمجهول، مثل:
1- This teacher is relied on. .هذا المدرس ُيعتمد عليه
 2- This is an important question that must be focused on..
‎هذا سؤال مهم يجب أن ُيرآز عليه.
